11 Reasons Why We Don’t Change

Disclaimer: There may be affiliate links in this post.  For more information, please read my disclosure policy.   Growth Mindset is a form of positive thinking.  It’s a choice.  If we aren’t growing, we are slowly dying.  Look for solutions, find answers, attract what you want, believe you are capable, do what you want to do.  See the good you want and go get it.  The mind is a powerful thing.   11 Reasons We Don’t Change Ever wonder why we have so much trouble changing a behavior?  We lose 40 pounds in 6 months only to gain it back 2 months later.  We quit drinking sodas on Sundays and take it back up again by Tuesday.  There are tons of reasons why we don’t change; below are 11 of them: 1. Fear We fear the unknown.  Sometimes it seems more comfortable to just keep doing what we’re doing than to […]

You Can Do CrossFit

Ever wonder if you can do CrossFit? You probably saw the CrossFit Games on ESPN last July and now you’re terrified because ‘some girl’ passed out after MURPH and then ‘some guy’ dropped a heavy snatch right on his head.  Well, it’s likely that WON’T happen to YOU.  Probably not on national tv either. Whew, glad we got that cleared up! So who can even do this stuff anyway? When my 10 year old sister asked me if she could do CrossFit, I said YES. When my out of shape 22-year-old friend asked if he do CrossFit, I said YES. When my 40-something parents asked me if they could do CrossFit, I said YES. When my 50-something coworkers asked me if they could do CrossFit, I said YES. When my 60- something grandma asked me if she could CrossFit, I said YES. My point is: You can do CrossFit.  Everything can be ‘scaled’, aka ‘modified’.  You’ll work up […]

Diet: Macros Lab Experiment Update 2

Planning & Adjustments Weeks three and four of my Macro Lab experiment have been very hectic.  I have been trying to log my meals on myFitnessPal ahead of time, but I’m kind of on vacation/job search in Gulf Shores.  I love to eat seafood while here so I wouldn’t say that I have completely given up on eating healthy- just planning is very difficult since I’m not sure what we are going to do in five minutes, let alone the next day.  I haven’t given up though!  Stay tuned for my travel tips and tricks for eating healthy. I began week two with a In-Body test through the Macros Lab, where I learned that my 40-pound weight loss goal is realistic.  In-Body screenings, BMI, Bod-Pod, Hydrostatic Weighing, Biolectrical Impedance Analysis, and Skin Fold Caliper measurements are some of the current tools available to help you understand what your body is […]

Diet: Macros Lab Experiment

I’m excited to announce that I will be doing an 8-week diet experiment with my local friends, Macros Lab.  I contacted the team, submitted my waiver and information, and can’t wait to get started! I had a lot of luck with my previous Macro coach from Sworn and I am hoping to gain lasting results and learn even more about the IIFYM (If It Fits Your Macros) diet. Counting Macronutrients, also known as ‘Macros’ means tracking your protein, fats, and carbs for total calories.  It’s flexible because you can choose your foods, but you’ll want to choose wisely. With the counting and planning, you’ll want to choose foods that are nutrient-dense (fuel your days) instead of filling up your Protein, Fats, and Carbs with junk.  Stayed tuned as I get set up and share my new macro journey. Tried Macros before?  Thinking about it?  Tweet @mindovermetcon and use hashtag: #mymacrojourney. […]
